MYSPP Plans

The Maine Youth Suicide Prevention Plan is comprised of 10 goals modeled on the National Strategy. It represents the thoughts and input of over 100 stake-holder and was released in September 2008. The plan contains many unfunded activities but provides a road map of possible activities for which funding will be sought.

Maine Youth Suicide Prevention Program Plan

This report was developed in response to Governor John E. Baldacci’s Executive Order 33 FY405, which required the Maine Youth Suicide Prevention Program to strengthen the program goals and plan. The report contains a workplan that outlines MYSPP activities in 2006. Work is underway to develop a detailed long-term workplan for 2010.

This report outlines a strategic expansion of the program that includes:

  1. Strengthening participation in implementing MYSPP activities among all Children’s Cabinet agencies;
  2. Increasing partnerships with key stakeholders outside of state government;
  3. Strengthening efforts to include high-risk and particularly vulnerable communities and culturally sensitive populations in planning and implementing program components;
  4. Planning for and obtaining funding for new initiatives to increase protective factors and reduce risk factors; and
  5. Improving our capacity to collect and analyze data to monitor the health status of our youth, and guide the development and evaluation of our initiatives.
